Arizona No Longer on Mexico Border

I just ran across this video of a Democratic county supervisor in Milwaukee wanting to boycott Arizona for their measures against illegal aliens crossing the US border into their state. I have to say, the guy that interrupted her handled things quite well. I’d have brought out a map and sat it in front of her to quiet her.

‘The Scene’ Skit

Some of the teenagers put on a skit at church last Sunday evening. We (the men) cooked for the ladies of the church for Mother’s Day, so instead of church services we had a church dinner/fellowship, and this skit was one of the things that kicked it off.

Our church hosted a Valentine’s Banquet this year for our teenagers. As part of that banquet, the pastor, Becky and I put on a skit right at the beginning. It’s “Rednecks’ First Date”.

Shoes Thrown at President Bush

Supposedly, throwing a shoe at someone is one of the worst insults an Iraqi can give to anyone. But you have to admit that this looks pretty funny. I was surprised to see that Bush was able to move as fast as he did. Not to mention how slow the Secret Service guys appeared to be.

Bush totally shrugged off the incident and painted the shoe thrower as someone who craves attention, and mildly rebuked the reporter at the press conference for giving him that attention.

Book Meme

I thought this would be kinda funny, and since I hadn’t posted anything here in a while I thought it appropriate.

First things first. I had no clue what a meme was until today when I saw this on another blog.

A meme consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.

So in this context, what I’m giving you here is just something that you can get others to do in the same fashion and see what the results are. Here we go:

Grab the nearest book to you (not your favorite one in the next room – the book closest to you. Not a magazine or pamphlet – a book)
Turn to page 56
Find the fifth sentence on that page
Post the text of the sentence to your blog along with these instructions

See how geeky I am? Now mind you, I’m at work. But my desk at home isn’t much better. Don’t worry, I haven’t actually read the book. Besides that, it’s very old. At least 8 years.

Star Wars – Acapella Tribute to John Williams

I ran across this video today and had to share it. If you’re a big Star Wars fan you’ll love it. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan you’ll love it. I watched the first Star Wars episode when they were all redone, but never really got into it. This video, however is awesome.

By now I’m sure you’ve seen at least one of the commercials advertising Mac’s. If you haven’t, check them out on Apple’s website. Some of them are quite funny. These ads have been running since sometime in 2006.

Microsoft, in yet another display of how they lag behind in pretty much everything, decided to run similar ads this year entitled “I’m a PC”. Yes, they’re copycatting. And not only that, they haven’t put any ads out there at all until this year. The only thing they could come up with is something that mimics their competition. Wait, wasn’t that what Vista was all about with Aero and gadgets? Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty and all, but Mac already did it.

Anyway, the point of this post is to tell you all how clever I am. Well, to me, I’m clever anyway. I got an email in my Windows Live account from Microsoft. It was basically along the lines of them wanting me to tell the world how great PC’s are by becoming part of the “I’m a PC” ‘movement’.

So I decided to tell everybody how great the hardware is..but I’m not using Microsoft. All the site allows you to do is put in your name, and it’ll let you complete the “I’m a PC, and I . . .” sentence. So I just entered “run Ubuntu”.

After I submitted everything and released my photo for public use and all that jazz, I got a note saying it would take them a day or two to review my submission and I’d get an email then. We’ll see if it makes it out the door…

Pit Bull In a Truck

Some guy in Northern California went outside to work on his pickup and caught a big surprise. A Pit Bull had chewed his way through some wires from underneath the truck and wound up stuck inside the engine compartment.

Just imagine opening the hood to your truck and seeing this thing. He looks harmless enough, but it would still be enough to put a scare into any grown man. I mean, who expects to see a dog’s head under the hood of a truck?

I sort of feel sorry for the owner of the truck now – he has to figure out which wires were chewed through and make sure he doesn’t cross any as he tries to put it all back together…
