We’ve all seen them, or at least heard about them. Some scammer sends out spam emails to every imaginable address saying he has inherited millions of dollars, but it is only accessible if it goes through a bank in the US. For your willingness to help, you’ll be given a large percentage of said inheritance. All they need is your bank account number and personal information to complete the transaction.

I always promised myself that if I was ever presented with the opportunity to have some fun with one of these scammers I would. Replying to one of those emails, though, would raise red flags with them and they’d just move on.

But yesterday, I had my chance. I’m publicly listed on Skype, and I get spam messages once in a while. Yesterday was one of those times I got a scammer sending me spam on Skype’s instant messaging service. I was promised a large sum of money if I would provide the means to transfer the inheritance.

I replied to the message asking the sender if he would call me to discuss the details and provided the phone number. He asked me if it was my mobile number, to which I replied it was a land line. He asked again would I help, and my reply was to just give me a call.

Of course, the number I provided was to the FBI headquarters in Washington, DC. Maybe next time I’ll be brave enough to have them call me directly and I can get some information to send to the FBI myself…who knows. That was enough fun for my day though.

A Pie in My Face

For a youth revival we just concluded last night, we had a contest among the youth to see who could bring the most visitors. The reward? Yes, you guessed it – the winner gets to throw a pie in my face. Bro. Jonathan Davis got in on it too.

Arizona No Longer on Mexico Border

I just ran across this video of a Democratic county supervisor in Milwaukee wanting to boycott Arizona for their measures against illegal aliens crossing the US border into their state. I have to say, the guy that interrupted her handled things quite well. I’d have brought out a map and sat it in front of her to quiet her.

‘The Scene’ Skit

Some of the teenagers put on a skit at church last Sunday evening. We (the men) cooked for the ladies of the church for Mother’s Day, so instead of church services we had a church dinner/fellowship, and this skit was one of the things that kicked it off.

Our church hosted a Valentine’s Banquet this year for our teenagers. As part of that banquet, the pastor, Becky and I put on a skit right at the beginning. It’s “Rednecks’ First Date”.

Shoes Thrown at President Bush

Supposedly, throwing a shoe at someone is one of the worst insults an Iraqi can give to anyone. But you have to admit that this looks pretty funny. I was surprised to see that Bush was able to move as fast as he did. Not to mention how slow the Secret Service guys appeared to be.

Bush totally shrugged off the incident and painted the shoe thrower as someone who craves attention, and mildly rebuked the reporter at the press conference for giving him that attention.

Book Meme

I thought this would be kinda funny, and since I hadn’t posted anything here in a while I thought it appropriate.

First things first. I had no clue what a meme was until today when I saw this on another blog.

A meme consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.

So in this context, what I’m giving you here is just something that you can get others to do in the same fashion and see what the results are. Here we go:

Grab the nearest book to you (not your favorite one in the next room – the book closest to you. Not a magazine or pamphlet – a book)
Turn to page 56
Find the fifth sentence on that page

See how geeky I am? Now mind you, I’m at work. But my desk at home isn’t much better. Don’t worry, I haven’t actually read the book. Besides that, it’s very old. At least 8 years.

Star Wars – Acapella Tribute to John Williams

I ran across this video today and had to share it. If you’re a big Star Wars fan you’ll love it. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan you’ll love it. I watched the first Star Wars episode when they were all redone, but never really got into it. This video, however is awesome.
